This year’s National Meeting, in looking ahead to the new millenium, places particular emphasis on the importance of building on the success of what has been achieved in prevention through many issues related to promising strategies, outcome-based models, and current research. In continuing to examine the many issues related to alcohol, other drugs, and violence on our campuses and in the surrounding communities, the Planning Committee has articulated four areas of focus upon which to build effective prevention efforts.

Networking and Collaboration
Research Based Strategies supporting what works in prevention, and identifying strategies designed to document effectiveness and provide insight for replication.
Professional Development Skills to provide education, support and guidance to practitioners in the field.
Current Issues and Controversies including their identification and suggestions for interventions.
